Description

Why are instructors flipping their classes? And what exactly does that mean? Does everyone stand on their heads? In this session, we’ll cover the basics of this active learning approach that inverts the traditional teaching-learning cycle: Students get exposed to new material before class and come to class ready to apply it and deepen their understanding. We’ll examine the research supporting this approach and a variety of ways it can be implemented in face-to-face and blended classes. Along the way we’ll discuss the role of assessments and feedback and how to design pre-class learning modules and in-class application activities. Bring your questions about how flipping could work in your class, how to motivate your students to complete the pre-class work, and how to manage your own workload.
