Analog Inspiration: A Discussion of Human-Centered Teaching and Learning in the Generative AI Era √ §

How is teaching and learning worthwhile in a GenAI world?

Location

Engineering : 102

Date & Time

October 23, 2025, 12:00 pm1:30 pm

Description

Join your colleagues for a thoughtful discussion of what makes teaching and learning a worthwhile human endeavor in a world that seems ever-more saturated and mediated by generative AI. As a conversation starter, we’ll use Analog Inspiration, a deck of 48 cards created by educational developer Carter Moulton (Colorado School of Mines), designed to help faculty explore “how generative AI can support values-driven, human-centered teaching and learning.” Each card in the deck focuses on a human value, concern, or skill and provides a concrete idea for using AI to develop that concept in the classroom. In a mix of small-group and whole-group conversations, participants will consider and critique the ideas on the cards while sharing their own concerns and experiences relative to generative AI. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring a device from which they can access at least one generative AI platform.

Please note that this session is in person only.
